During the Redmi Note 3 event earlier this month, Hugo Barra, Xiaomi VP announced that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched in India next month. Well, they kept their promise, and today they launched the Mi 5 for Rs 24, 999.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with 32GB and 64GB internal storage, features 5.1 inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a 7.3mm unibody powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB RAM and 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 feature.
It only weights 128g, the device also has 3D glass body and fingerprint sensor on home button, other features are NFC, 4G+, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and this is the first devices that is coming to India with USB Type-C port. Also, this is Xiaomi’s first device that has MiUi 7.0 interface based on Android 6.0. Too bad there is no storage expansion though.
They also worked on the camera for the Xiaomi Mi 5, it has 16MP rear with 4-axis optical image stabilization, phase detection and auto focus with 4K video recording support. This is the first camera with DTI pixel isolation technology that improves the image details, colors and can utilize Qualcomm Spectra image processor for more color and low light performance. On the front shooter is 4MP camera that can record full HD video.
The 32GB variant is currently priced at Rs 24, 999 and the 64GB or the Mi 5 Pro has not been launced yet, it will be available on MI.com, the flash sale will be on April 6, 2016.
