Xiaomi Mi 5, the new flagship from the Chinese start-up that was launched at MWC in Barcelona today. The said device goes on sale in China on March 1st, while India have yet to announce the schedule, same with US and EU countries.
The new flagship goes on sale in China on March 1, and while the company has promised an India launch for the device, we’ll have to wait and see when that happens.
Mi 5 will come in three variants, the Mi 5 Pro will have 4GB RAM, 128GB storage and will be priced at $413. The other versions will be 3GB RAM 32GB and priced at $352, and 3GB RAM and 32GB storage will be at $306.
About the design of the new Xiaomi Mi 5 will come in black, gold and white variants, they also come with metal and glass design with 3D Glass, while the Mi 5 Pro will have 3D ceramic body.
Xiaomi said that they used high-grade zirconia ceramic body for Mi 5 Pro which is pretty hard to crack. Barra showed during the MWC event that ceramic is 75% more expensive than any high-grade glass, no wonder the price of the Mi 5 Pro is quite steep.
The company, which has an ongoing legal battle in India over patent infringement, claims it filed over 21 patents on display tech alone for this phone.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by Snapdragon 820 that offers 200% better performance than the previous 810, using 50% power consumption. This device is pretty fast in processing and less power consumption.
This is also VoLTE compatible, and supports 4G+, the Mi 5 claims to download a 1080p movie for only 30 seconds. That would likely depend on your internet connection and other factors.
The device uses 16MP rear camera with 4-axis OIS, while the front shooter has 4MP with wide-angle lenses. The 4-axis OIS is better for long shots, low light and moving objects.
Mi 5 also has Sony IMX298 sensor, PDAF and DTI for pixel to pixel iso, which will prevents the colour-bleeding.
Other features are 3,000mAh battery, it also has Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 which can charge your smartphone up to 90% in just one hour, it can also could give you 2 hours talk time for charging your mobile in quick 5 minutes.
Looking at Xiaomi Mi 5, it matches the OnePlus 2, Moto X Play range. We just hope that they also launch in US and EU countries, so users will enjoy what Xiaomi brings to the table.
